Why Tech Policies Can Create Good Implications for Business

“Tech” is a term referring to the application of technology to business activities. Technological change occurs due to advancements in scientific knowledge, experimentation, and application of that knowledge. Tech has become an important element in business due to the increased complexity of doing business electronically and the corresponding increase in technological capability. Technology is the combination of any such techniques, methods, and procedures utilized in the achievement of specific goals, including scientific research, and/or in the manufacturing of products or services. Technological change can be used as a term describing a particular set of or genre of techniques, procedures, and other activities affecting technology.

In order to create tech policy, organizations need to understand both its positive effects on businesses as well as the negative effects that could occur if it is not controlled or kept in check. A company must first decide if it wants to facilitate technological change and, if so, what kind of change is desired. Some people, representing business interests, attempt to create tech policies that are overly protective of existing technologies. Such policies may do more harm than good. On the other hand, a business that decides not to apply technology in certain circumstances may unintentionally create Tech Policy that is inadequate to accomplish desired goals.

There are many experts in the tech industry who are willing to offer advice to organizations seeking to create a sound tech policy. Additionally, there are numerous associations that provide resources and information for tech companies, including the American Association of Business Women (ABAW), the Association of Fashion Designers and Merchandisers (AFDC), the Association of Specialty Merchandisers, and the Interactive Technology Industry Association (IIA). By engaging these and other organizations, a business can become more knowledgeable about the tech industry, learn more about the issues facing businesses today, and devise a proper policy that addresses those issues.
